Information and PR Support of Russia’s Special Military Operation in Ukraine: Major Trends and Lessons of the First Stage

The paper analyzes of the state PR and propaganda work Russian side during first stage (February — May 2022) special military operation (SNO) in Ukraine. In particular, author emphasizes undoubted combat successes troops (“basis”). Nevertheless, he considers that terms superstructure, political leadership is underperforming, conceding to both Western Ukrainian opponents. specific concerns are about problems positioning SMO society, image form a pool heroes cult people, as well counter-propaganda interaction with information volunteers.
